Ensuring the correct use of artificial intelligence in academic article writing and analysis; protecting data confidentiality and academic integrity are the primary goals of this policy.
This policy will be updated as needed, depending on developments in the scope, method of use, and capacity of artificial intelligence tools.
This policy is consistent with the ethical principles and publication policies of the Mersin Journal of Theology.
Artificial intelligence tools may only be used to check grammar, spelling errors, and stylistic consistency in articles submitted to the journal.
The Mersin Journal of Theology commits to not using artificial intelligence tools at any stage of the article evaluation process.
Points to Consider Regarding the Use of Artificial Intelligence:
1. Transparency and Accountability: Transparency must be maintained in every process where artificial intelligence is used. The contribution of artificial intelligence should be clearly stated, specifying in which stages and how it was used, and how the data was collected. The Mersin Journal of Theology will present the author's statement on the cover of published articles.
2. Accuracy: The accuracy of content/information generated by artificial intelligence must be verified, and the data obtained must be checked and confirmed against sources.
3. Responsibility: The author is solely responsible for all data resulting from the use of artificial intelligence. Therefore, the author must carefully examine the points where they utilize artificial intelligence and be aware of their own responsibility.
4. Impartiality: Authors must clearly declare potential conflicts of interest and act in accordance with the principles of impartiality. Regular audit and evaluation processes should be established to ensure the impartial use of artificial intelligence.
5. Privacy and Security: The privacy and security of personal data must be protected. Respect for the privacy of parties must be ensured in data collection, storage, and processing processes, and appropriate security measures must be taken.
6. Citation: Artificial intelligence should not be mentioned in footnotes and the bibliography. The use of artificial intelligence should be stated in the ethical statement section.
