MUSEUMS AND EDUCATION PROJECTS TARGETING VISITORS WITH DISABILITIES

Abstract

Social responsibility projects that many people and institutions jointly organized under the slogan “Accessible Museums,” have increased after year 2000. Today, museums became more accessible for people with disabilities. Particularly provincial special administrations, public institutions, governorates, municipalities, universities, museums, commercial companies and people undertook projects that support disability studies in various fields and developed social collaborations. These various projects opened up the museums to usage and access by museums. Accessible museums were aimed for by supporting programs that develop training and education activities that target visitors with disabilities. The implementation of educational projects that target visitors with disabilities in our museums has strengthened social communication. In the future, the increase in the number of projects that target visitors with disabilities will push educational efforts to new levels
