DEVELOPING OF THE ATTITUDE SCALE TOWARD INTEGRATION OF THE SCIENCE AND ART SUBJECTS

Abstract

This study aimed at developing ‘The Attitude Scale Toward Integration of Science and Arts’ with The Descriptive Research Method. Data were collected by 4-point attitude scale. Participants were 390 seventh grade students from eight primary schools in Izmir, Turkey, 2007. The construct validity of the scale was tested by using exploratory factor analysis. Furthermore, the Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used for the reliability of the scale. Consequently, this scale was developed in fourth factor structure explaining % 49,11 of total variance and consisting of 28 items. These factors were named respectively, as ‘The Attitude to Science and Technology Lesson (F1)’, ‘The Attitude to Art and Visual Perception (F2)’, ‘The Attitude to Learning Science and Technology (F3)’ and ‘The Attitude to Integration of Science and Art (F4)’. The overall internal consistency of scale was computed as 0,92.
