MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION PROCESS IN VISUAL ART EDUCATION

Abstract

Art education plays an important role on personal growth and on the motivation of person with the society. Art education aims the students to produce individuals who are capable of aesthetic perception and taste, too. With the knowledge of their environments, person with improved sensibility of esthetics can easily notice events going on around them so they can behave sensitively towards the visual pollution. Basic aim of art education is educating the person with the manner of arts. The three virtuous stones of this education are the teacher, the student and the education programme. One of the basic elements of educational program is evaluation and assessment. Evaluation and assessment process in visual art education is important. It is known that if the measurement and assessment are correctly applied, the quality and permanence of the learning will be increased. Since there are not any exact criteria in assessment in this area, there will be some difficulties in it. These difficulties sometimes transforms into problems. The research was designed with survey model. The main purpose of thus study is to bring up hardness in evaluation and assessment in visual art education, to argue about these, to explain search of method and to present a proposal
