The Impact of Healthcare Workers' Ethical Codes on Ethical Climate and Person-Organization Fit: A Study Focused on Healthcare Sector Employees

Abstract

Globalization, intense competition, uncertainties in the business environment, abandonment of centralized structures, strategic decisions taken by institutions and many other phenomena increase the importance of ethical codes in the business world day by day. Consideration of ethical codes in the business world is important not only in the environment and social life, but also in the sustainability of organizations. In this study, which aims to understand this importance, it is aimed to investigate the effect of health workers' ethical codes on ethical climate and person-organization fit. For this purpose, 401 health sector employees in Avcılar and Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul province were reached by convenience sampling method and data were obtained. In the correlation analysis performed with these data, a weak positive significant relationship was found between Codes of Ethics and Ethical Climate with r=0.246 at p<0.05 level of significance. There was a weak positive significant relationship between Code of Ethics and Person-Organization Fit with r=0.272 at p<0.05 level of significance. As a result of the regression analysis, a statistically significant (F=25,593; p<0.05) effect of health workers' codes of ethics on ethical climate was found. In addition, statistically (F=31,849; p<0,05) significant effect of health care workers' codes of ethics on person-organization fit was found.

During the writing process of the study titled “The Impact of Healthcare Workers' Ethical Codes on Ethical Climate and Person-Organization Fit: A Study Focused on Healthcare Sector Employees”, scientific rules, ethics and citation rules were followed; no falsification was made on the collected data and this study was not sent for evaluation to any other academic publication environment. The necessary ethics committee permissions were obtained at the meeting of Istanbul Gelişim University Ethics Committee dated 30.10.2024 and numbered 2024.16.
