This study is aimed to develop a data collection tool that can be used to determine the acquired motivation source of individuals. Three different applications were made within the scope of the research. In the first application, 193 university students, in the second application 390 graduate education students, and in the third application 842 university and graduate education students were reached. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to determine the construct validity of the scale. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the scale consisted of four sub-dimensions as “Need for Affiliation, Need for Power, Need for Autonomy and Need for Achievement” and 40 items in a five-point Likert type. The factor loading values of the items in the mentioned scale were between 0.24 and 0.68; item-total correlations were between 0.42 and 0.67; reliability coefficients vary between 0.74 and 0.89. Model data fit indices determined in confirmatory factor analysis were determined to be within acceptable limits. RMSEA value of .079, CFI value, and TLI value of .82 are within acceptable limits, X2/sd ratio is 2.009, and GFI value is .97, indicating a good fit. As a result of the findings obtained from this study, it has been revealed that the Acquired Needs Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the acquired motivation source of university students.
