Analysis of the factors affecting the margarine consumption of consumers in Konya city center

Abstract

Aims: In this study, factors affecting consumer preferences in margarine consumption in households in central district of Konya (Selçuk, Meram, Karatay) were determined.

Methods and Results: In this study, the central districts of Konya (Selçuk, Meram, Karatay) were selected as the research area. The data were obtained from face-to-face surveys and a total of 384 people were interviewed. Research data belongs to the period April 2019. First, the social-economic indicators of the household were examined. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate the factors affecting the consumption of margarine in consumers.

Conclusions: Margarine consumption rate of consumers is %34.11. According to the results of the logistic regression analysis, it was determined that there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between the place of birth of the consumers, the high income group, the size of the household, and the consumption tendency of margarine. It was determined that there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between gender and low income and the tendency to consume margarine.

Significance and Impact of the Study: Studies on margarine consumption are limited. This situation increases the originality of the study. Factors affecting margarine consumption were by logistic regression. The work is important for the production companies as well for the consumption of margarine.
