GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE WITHDRAWAL PROCESS
The Editorial Board or Editors of the Journal of Marmara University Institute of Islamic Economics and Finance handle objections, complaints, or requests for article withdrawal in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. The Editorial Board or Editors are always prepared to issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary. In line with the journal’s publication policy, the duties and responsibilities related to the withdrawal of a publication by the author(s) or editor(s) are outlined below.
Author(s) may request the withdrawal of a manuscript that is under review, in early view, or already published by providing valid reasons. However, requests for withdrawal of a manuscript that has entered the publication phase will not be considered. During this process, the author(s) are obliged to cooperate with the journal editors. The corresponding author must complete the Article Withdrawal Form, and the form must bear the wet-ink signatures of all authors. The signed and scanned form must be sent to dergi.muisef@marmara.edu.tr
. The Editor(s) or the Editorial Board shall review the withdrawal notification and make a decision within 15 days after the form reaches the journal, informing the author(s) of the outcome. For manuscripts whose copyright has been transferred to the Journal of Marmara University Institute of Islamic Economics and Finance, the withdrawal request cannot be processed, and the work cannot be submitted to another journal unless approved by the Editor(s) or Editorial Board.
If ethical or copyright violations, errors, or plagiarism are suspected in a manuscript under review, in early view, or already published, the Editor(s) or Editorial Board are obliged to suspend the publication process or initiate an investigation if the work has already been published. If, as a result of an investigation, the Editor(s) or Editorial Board determine that a manuscript under review involves ethical or copyright violations, errors, or plagiarism, the publication process will be terminated, and a detailed report of the identified misconduct will be sent to the author(s). If such violations are detected in an early view or published article, the Editor(s) or Editorial Board will, within 15 days after reaching a decision, carry out the necessary withdrawal procedures.
For a work found to contain ethical violations, the abstract and full text remain accessible in the electronic archive; however, the term “Retracted:” and the retraction date are added before the article title in the “Contents” section of the respective issue and before the title of the article in the display version. The retraction notice is published together with the reasons for retraction, detailed sources of evidence, and, if available, official notifications from the author(s)’ affiliated institutions. A retraction notice is also announced on the journal’s main website. In the “Contents” list of the next electronic and/or printed issue of the journal, the retracted article is listed as “Retracted: [Title of the Work],” and starting from the first page, the reasons for retraction and cited original sources are shared with the public and researchers. The above-mentioned retraction notifications are sent to the author(s)’ affiliated institutions and organizations. The notifications are also sent to the indexing services, cataloging bodies, and the National Library of Türkiye for record and indexing purposes.
Furthermore, the Editor(s) or Editorial Board may recommend to the publisher or editorial boards of journals that have published other works by the same author(s) that they take steps to ensure the validity and reliability of those publications or consider retracting them.
