Expectations of Student Nurses from Instructors in Clinics, Classrooms and Out of Classroom Settings
Abstract
The expectations of students from
theoretical and practical education as well as from their instructors have
gained importance in forming effective education processes. This descriptive
and cross-sectional study aims to identify the expectations of student nurses
from instructors in clinics, classrooms and out of classroom settings. The
target population was 600 2nd, 3rd and 4th
year nursing students, and the total number of participants was 411 students.
The data was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed in IBM SPSS
Statistics 20, using percentages and arithmetic means. The study found that participants generally have expectations from
instructors about their teaching skills, knowledge, ability, communication and
evaluation skills, and the ratio of satisfaction for these expectations is low. It is recommended that at the end of
each course or semester, each course and instructor should be evaluated by
students, and group discussions and in-service training programs should be
organized following the feedback obtained.
