The NÖHÜ Journal of the Faculty of Education (NOHU-JE) adheres to international standards of publication ethics and conducts its processes in accordance with the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The journal is guided by the principles of integrity, transparency, impartiality, and academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated within the framework of ethical responsibilities shared by authors, editors, and reviewers.
Editors’ Ethical Responsibilities
- Makes publication decisions based on scientific merit, originality, and the journal’s scope.
- Does not discriminate against authors based on race, gender, religion, political views, or institutional affiliation.
- Conducts the double-blind peer review process fairly and impartially.
- Does not participate in the review process for manuscripts involving a conflict of interest.
- They adhere to the principle of confidentiality; they do not share information from the review process with third parties.
- In cases of suspected ethical violations, they initiate the necessary procedures in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
- They conduct their reviews in a manner that is based on scientific criteria, impartial, and constructive.
- They keep the information obtained during the review process confidential.
- They do not accept to review studies in which they have a conflict of interest.
- They notify the editor in cases of suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical violations.
- They complete the review within the specified timeframe.
Authors’ Ethical Responsibilities
- They declare that their work is original and has not been previously published.
- They do not submit the same work to another journal simultaneously.
- They cite all sources used accurately and completely.
- For studies requiring ethics committee approval, they submit the relevant documentation.
- They do not fabricate, distort, falsify data, or commit plagiarism.
- They guarantee that all authors have made a scientific contribution to the work.
- If there is a conflict of interest, they disclose it clearly.
Plagiarism Policy
NOHU-JE adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism and ethical violations.
- All submitted articles are checked using plagiarism detection software (iThenticate, etc.).
- It is understood that the similarity rate alone is not the sole determining factor; the text is evaluated based on its context.
- If the overall similarity rate exceeds 20%, the manuscript may be returned to the author during the preliminary review.
- Uncited quotations, data manipulation, and salami slicing constitute ethical violations.
- If an ethical violation is detected, the manuscript will be rejected; if necessary, the relevant institutions will be notified, and the author’s future submissions may be restricted.
Reporting Ethical Violations and the Process
Allegations of ethical violations may be submitted in writing to the editorial office ([editor@ohu.edu.tr]). Reports are evaluated in accordance with the principle of confidentiality; the COPE flowcharts serve as the basis for the review. Where necessary, the author may be asked to provide an explanation, peer reviews may be sought, and an independent expert evaluation may be conducted. Depending on the outcome, a correction, retraction, or statement may be published.
Research Ethics
Studies involving human or animal subjects must have obtained approval from an ethics committee, secure informed consent from participants, and comply with applicable regulations regarding the protection of personal data.
