The genus Achillea L.(Asteraceae) is represented by 115 species in the Northern Hemisphere. In the flora of Turkey, 48 species and altogether 54 taxa have been recorded, 24 being endemic. So far, 31 Achillea taxa growing wild in Turkey have been studied for their essential oils. Most have been characterized by the occurrence of camphor and 1,8-cineole as main constituents in their oils.
