The state founded by Timur was a legacy of the Turkish-Mongolian tradition. The most important element of this tradition was that it had a nomadic character. However, the region of Transoxiana, where it was founded, contained a very strong culture belonging to both urban and nomads from the past. It would not be wrong to include the Timurid State in the nomad category. However, both Timur and his successors did not act in accordance with the nomadic lifestyle of Genghis Khan, on which they tried to base their legitimacy. Timur used the highlands and winter quarters for accommodation during the expeditions. Later Timurid rulers adapted the nomadic life to their own lives and became urbanized over time. The travelers and ambassadors who came to the Timurid country at different times left important imformation about the lifestyle of the people. In this study, the lifestyle of the Timurid dynasty, which has a different undurstanding of nomads compared to its contemporaries, will be evaulated in the light of sources and studies.
