Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the meaning of work and self-compassion play a mediating role in the effect of perceived organisational support on job performance. In line with this purpose, the research sample consists of 707 teachers working in the public and private sectors. A quantitative research method was used in the study. The data were collected electronically (via Google form) using the questionnaire technique. The convenience sampling method was preferred in the study and SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 24.0 programs were used to analyse the collected data. As a result of the analyses, perceived organisational support positively affected job meaning, self-compassion, task and contextual performance. Job meaning and self-compassion positively affected task and contextual performance and played a mediating role.
