The relationship for the water surface profile in gradually varied flow is a separable differential equation, which hasn’t exact solution because it cannot be directly integrated. Therefore, a number of researches has been made for the approximate solutions of water surface profiles. In this work, the calculation of error came up from the solution of problems by approximate methods is studied, and the required minimum step number is calculated for the error resulting from the calculation of water surface profile by Euler’s method, not to exceed a predetermined value.
