THE EFFECT OF AMINOETHOXYVINYLGLYCINE (AVG) AND NAPTHALENE ACETIC ACID ON THE PREHARVEST DROP AND FRUIT QUALITY IN RED CHIEF APPLE VARIETY

Abstract

This study was carried out to increase the fruit quality and reduce preharvest drop of Red Chief apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) variety in Tokat ecological conditions. For that purpose, 150, 300, 600 mg L–1 aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and 20 mg L–1 napthalene acetic acid (NAA) were sprayed to the trial trees 4 weeks before the estimated harvest date. In the study, cumulative drop (%), fruit removal force (N), starch index, fruit colour (L*, C*, h°), fruit mass (g), total soluble solid concentration [TSSC, (%)], pH, titratable acidity (g.malic acid 100-1) and fruit firmness (N) were measured. The application of AVG at concentrations of 300 and 600 mg L–1 was found to be different in significant level (P<0.05) than NAA application and the control group with respect to reducing preharvest drop at the estimated harvest date. Fruit removal force increased with increasing AVG doses. Significant differences were not observed among treatments with regard to starch index at the estimated harvest date and on September 15. The fruit mass linearly increased with increasing doses of AVG at the estimated harvest date. AVG and NAA positively affected the TSSC of fruit at the estimated harvest date. In general, the pH was reduced towards the estimated harvest date. At the estimated harvest date, both AVG and NAA treatments were founded to be similar to the control group with regard to titratable acidity. The flesh firmness was linearly reduced towards the estimated harvest date, but it was positively affected by increasing AVG doses .

RED CHIEF ELMA ÇEŞİDİNDE AMİNOETHOXYVİNYLGLYCİNE’NİN (AVG) VE NAFTALEN ASETİK ASİT’İN (NAA) HASAT ÖNÜ DÖKÜM VE MEYVE KALİTESİ ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

Bu çalışma Tokat ekolojik koşullarında Red Chief elma çeşidinin (Malus domestica Borkh.) hasat önü dökümünü azaltmak ve meyve kalitesini artırmak amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla 150, 300, 600 mg L–1 aminoethoxyvinylglycine ve 20 mg L–1 naftalen asetik asit, tahmini hasat tarihinden 4 hafta önce deneme ağaçlarına püskürtülmüştür. Çalışmada kümülatif döküm yüzdesi (%), kopma direnci (N), nişasta indeksi, meyve rengi (L*, C*, h°), meyve ağırlığı (g), suda çözünebilir kurumadde miktarı [SÇKM, (%)], pH, titre edilebilir asitlik (g.malik asit 100-1) ve meyve eti sertliği (N) ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Tahmini hasat tarihinde AVG’nin 300 ve 600 mg L–1 dozları dökümü azaltmada kontrol ve NAA uygulamasından önemli düzeyde (P<0.05) farklı bulunmuştur. Kopma direnci, AVG’nin artan dozları ile artmıştır. Tahmini hasatta ve 15 Eylül’de, nişasta indeksi bakımından uygulamalar arasında fark tespit edilememiştir. Tahmini hasat tarihinde AVG’nin artan dozları ile meyve ağırlığı doğrusal olarak artmıştır. Tahmini hasat tarihinde, AVG ve NAA meyvenin SÇKM’sini pozitif yönde etkilemiştir. Genel olarak pH miktarı tahmini hasada doğru azalış göstermiştir. Tahmini hasatta, titre edilebilir asitlik değeri bakımından hem AVG hem de NAA kontrol ile benzer bulunmuştur. Tahmini hasada doğru et sertliğinde doğrusal bir azalış tespit edilmiş, ancak AVG’nin artan dozları et sertliğini pozitif yönde etkilemiştir.
