Opinions of the Primary School Principals about 4+4+4 Education Model

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal the opinions of the primary school principals about the change in 4+4+4 education model. The research was held in the center of Denizli and its districts. It consists of 14 schools from the center of Denizli and 36 primary schools that 2 each from the districts. In total, there are 168 principals from 50 primary schools. In order to get the data of the research, the survey prepared by the researchers “An Open Ended Survey for the Primary School Principals in 4+4+4 Model” was applied. The primary school principals were asked 3 open ended questions. The qualitative data of the survey was analyzed within its content. According to the primary school principals, the 4+4+4 education model has negative effects on our education system (%63); 4+4+4 education model should continue in the same way in the following years (%38); 4+4+4 education model leads to important changes at school (%69); for the principal there were problems after applying 4+4+4 education model at school (%87) and most of the problems were about the students (%26); in-servicetraining was applied for 4+4+4 education model (%70) and the in-service-training was inadequate (%48); the physical structure of the school is appropriate to apply 4+4+4 education model (%48)
