The Analysis of Motivation and Expectations of Disabled Persons On Tourism Activities: The Case of Muğla

Abstract

The disability phenomenon has been one of the overdue issues over time, social sensitivities for the disabled and the problems they have experienced have begun to increase. Every day, there are developments in the direction of awareness of the various needs of disabled individuals who have a wide range in the society. Individuals with disabilities also have the right to participate in tourism activities such as relaxation, entertainment, social activities. It is seen that there are studies showing an increase in recent periods in Turkey. It has been observed that not enough studies have been done to examine the expectations and motivations of disabled people for tourism; it is thought that this study will contribute to the elimination of the problem and can be supported by further research. Interviews were held with 11 orthopedically disabled participants in the province of Muğla using interview technique from qualitative research methods and participants’ motivation and expectations of tourism activities were tried to be understood.
