Anadolu’nun iç kısımlarını Konya üzerinden tarihi Alanya limanına bağlayan yol üzerinde bulunan Akseki, 16. yüzyılın başlarında Alâiye Kazası’na bağlı bir nahiye iken bu yüzyılın ikinci yarısında yapılan idari düzenleme ile kaza statüsüne kavuşturulmuştur. Akseki isminde bir yerleşim yeri bulunmayıp, bu ismini Marolya Köyü’nde kurulan Akseki ismindeki pazardan almıştır. Bölgenin ekonomik durumu önemli ölçüde tarım ve hayvancılığa dayanmaktadır. Bu yüzyılın sonuna doğru Anadolu şehir ve kasabalarında olduğu gibi Akseki’nin de nüfusu ve ürettiği ürünlerde önemli miktarda artışlar olmuştur.
Akseki is located on the road connecting the historical port of Alanya to the inner parts of Anatolia passing through Konya. In the beginning of 16th century Akseki was a district of Alaiye, in the second half of this century it acquired city status with an administrative change. There is no inhabited place named as Akseki, it’s name come from the name of bazaar which is founded in the village of Marolya. Economy of the region was significantly based on agriculture and animal husbandry. Towards the end at this century population and products of the city significantly increases as well as in other Anatolian cities and towns.
