Abdurrahman (822-852), Endülüs Emevi halifeleri olan III. Abdurrahman (912-961) ve II. Hakem (961-976) dönemlerinde, Endülüs İspanyası üzerindeki Bizans ve Abbasi etkisinin üzerinde durmakla beraber, diplomatik etkileşimin değişimler doğurduğu; merasim, protokol ve sembol gibi konulara da değinmektedir. Yazar, diplomasinin verdiği sonuçların aynı zamanda bir sebep olduğundan bahsetmekte ve var olan değişimlerin ana hatlarını kronik ve araştırma eserlere dayanarak açıklamaktadır.
