Oral Squamous Papilloma Associated with Hpv and Oral Cancer in A Hard Palate: A Case Report and Revıew of the Literature

Abstract

Oral Squamous Papilloma (OSP) is the most common bening tumor in the oral mucosa. The main etiological factor is the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). In recent years, it has been observed that it is directly related to HPV infection. In this case report, we present a case of squamous papilloma in the palate in a 54-year-old male patient. A 54-year-old male patient was admitted to our clinic for toothache. There was no systemic disease in the anamnesis taken from the patient. The patient also stated that he did not consume alcohol but smoked. During the clinical examination, a vegetative lesion of approximately 4 mm in diameter, whitish-pink in color, with a stalk was observed on the posterior hard palate surface. The patient said that he first noticed the lesion 3 months ago. Excisional biopsy was performed after clinical examination. The results of histopathology were consistent with the diagnosis of oral squamous papilloma and did not suggest malignancy. The patient was advised that the pathology could be transmitted sexually, to use condoms during sexual intercourse and to have periodic medical follow-up checks to prevent this condition. The gold Standard for clinical diagnosis of oral squamous papilloma is clinical and histopathological examination. Squamous papilloma is a common benign tumor. However, a correlation was found between HPV and oral cancer. Therefore, the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of this lesion is important. Our case emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis of these lesions.

Sert Damakta Hpv ve Oral Kanser ile İlişkili Oral Skuamöz Papilloma: Bir Olgu Sunumu ve Literatür Derlemesi

Abstract

Oral Skuamöz Papilloma (OSP), oral mukozada en yaygın görülen bening tümördür. Temel etiyolojik faktör Human Papilloma Virüsü’dür (HPV). Son yıllarda HPV enfeksiyonu ile doğrudan ilişkili olduğu gözlenmiştir.Bu vaka sunumunda 54 yaşında erkek hastada damakta skuamözpapilloma olgusunu sunuyoruz.
54 yaşında erkek hasta diş ağrısı nedeniyle kliniğimize başvurdu.Hastadan alınan anamnezde sistemik hastalığı yoktu.Hasta aynı zamanda alkol tüketiminin olmadığını fakat sigara kullandığını belirtti. Klinik muayenesırasında, posterior sert damak yüzeyinde, yaklaşık 4 mm çapında, beyazımsı-pembe renkli, tabanı saplı olan vejetatif bir lezyon gözlendi. Hasta lezyonu ilk kez 3 ay önce farkettiğini söyledi. Klinik muayeneden sonra eksizyonel biyopsi yapıldı. Histopatolojinin sonuçları oral skuamözpapilloma tanısı ile uyumluydu ve maligniteyi düşündürmüyordu. Hastaya patolojinin cinsel yolla bulaşabileceği, bu durumu önlemek için cinsel ilişki sırasında herzaman prezervatif kullanması ve periyodik tıbbi takip kontrollerini yaptırması gerektiği önerildi.
Oral skuamözpapillomanın kesin tanısı için altın standart klinik ve histopatolojik incelemedir. Skuamözpapilloma yaygıngörülen benign bir tümördür.Bununla birlikte, HPV ile oral kanser arasında bir korelasyon saptanmıştır. Bu nedenle bu lezyonun tanısı, tedavisi ve takibi önemlidir. Olgumuz bu lezyonların erken tanısının önemini vurgulamaktadır.
