Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the fear of COVID-19 and the level of professional commitment in clinician nurses.
Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional research was carried out with 86 nurses working in Turkey. The research data were collected online using the Introductory Information Form, the Fear of COVID 19 Scale and the Commitment to Profession in Nursing Scale. Data were evaluated using Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, independent t test, one-way analysis of variance, pearson and sperman correlation analysis.
Results: The mean score of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale in clinician nurses was 20.01±6.91, and the mean score for the Nursing professional Commitment Scale was 68.02±12.88. It was found that the level of COVID-19 fear was significantly higher in women. "Willingness to Effort", one of the sub-dimensions of professional commitment, is higher in women and those who have children. In addition, it was determined that the total scores of commitment to the profession were significantly higher in those who had children (p0.05). There is a weak positive correlation between the mean score of the fear of COVID-19 scale and the mean score of the "Willingness to Effort" (p0.05), but there is no significant relationship between the mean score of the fear of COVID-19 scale and the mean score of the Nursing Professional Commitment Scale. (p> 0.05).
Conclusion: The fear of COVID-19 and professional commitment in clinician nurses is moderate, and the fear of COVID-19 did not affect the commitment to the profession. It is recommended to carry out studies in larger groups to determine the effect of fear and other psychological problems experienced by nurses during the pandemic process on their commitment to the profession.

Klinisyen Hemşirelerde COVID-19 Korkusu ve Mesleğe Bağlılık Düzeyinin Belirlenmesi

Year 2021, , 316 - 325, 26.12.2021
