Abstract

Objective: This study aims to define, determine the characteristics of, and understand the scope of holistic care, which evolved from the inception of modern nursing to the present day, through an analysis of the concept.
Methods: This study analyzed the concept of holistic care using the eight-step concept analysis method developed by Walker and Avant.
Results: Nursing theorists' incorporation and interpretation of the concept of holistic care within their theories’ formation and development. Emphasizing the evaluation of an individual, encompassing their physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual dimensions, the concept has been instrumental in forming the specialty field of holistic nursing care. The concept continues to evolve and shape its content.
Conclusion: Holistic care is utilized in nursing practice, education, and research, and its use will persist. Therefore, to enhance a better understanding of the concept and to expand its application in various domains, the concept of holistic care should be included in nursing education curricula.

Holistik Bakım: Kavram Analizi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, modern hemşireliğin başlangıcından günümüze kadar ulaşan holistik bakım kavramının tanımını yapmak, özelliklerini belirlemek ve kapsamını anlayabilmek için kavramı analiz etmektir.
Yöntem: Çalışmada, Walker ve Avant’ın geliştirdiği sekiz basamaklı kavram analizi yöntemi kullanılarak holistik bakım kavramının analizi yapılmıştır.
Bulgular: Hemşirelik kuramcılarının holistik bakım kavramını kuramlarının içerisinde ele alıp yorumlaması, kavramın gelişimini desteklemiştir. Bireyin fizyolojik, psikolojik, sosyokültürel ve spiritüel boyutlarının bir bütünü olarak değerlendirilmesini vurgulayan kavram, holistik bakım hemşireliği uzmanlık alanının oluşmasında etkin olmuştur. Kavram gelişimini sürdürüp içeriğini oluşturmaya devam etmektedir.
Sonuç: Holistik bakım kavramı; hemşirelik uygulamaları, eğitimi ve araştırmalarında kullanılan bir kavramdır ve kullanımı devam etmektedir. Bu nedenle kavramın daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi ve uygulama alanlarındaki kullanımının yaygınlaştırılması için hemşirelik eğitim müfredatlarında holistik bakım kavramına mutlaka yer verilmelidir.
