The Effect Of A Laboratory Environment Enriched With Models On Academic Success Within The Scope Of Teaching The Subject Of Meiosis
Abstract
This study aims at exploring the effect of models, a
contemporary method, in teaching and learning of meiosis division. Mixed method
was used in this research. The data about their level achievement were
collected through an achivement test developed by the researchers and also
their opinions about this study were collected interviewing technique. The research was
conducted with 47 samples that were 2nd. grade students of science and
technology teaching department at “Biology Laboratory-I” course. Control group
was examined slides under the microscope and taught by lecture method.
Experimental group was taught by using models in addition to examining slides
under the microscope and was also asked to produce their model. The results
showed that teaching meiosis division using models is significantly more
effective on students success in post test.
