EXAMINATION OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS’ PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THE CONCEPT OF VARIABLE IN TERMS OF STUDENTS’ ERRORS
Abstract
The aim of this study
was to examine the pre-service teachers’pedagogical content knowledge
concerning the concept of variable to examine students’ understanding of the
knowledge and training presentations in the context of data components. It was
designed in terms of qualitative research approach and the case study method was used in the study. The participants of
this study consisted of 72
seventh grade students and 63 pre-service mathematics teachers. As the data collection tool of the study, the
form which consists of open-ended
questions of Soylu’s (2008) work was used.
In the analysis of data, the descriptive analysis
technique was used. At the end of the
study, results showed that pre-service mathematics teachers’ pedagogical
content knowledge from the understanding of students’ information was at the
average level. Teaching strategies information (teaching presentation
information) was not on the level that expected
