Teknostres ve uzaktan çalışma ilişkisi: Yazılım sektörü çalışanları örneği

Abstract

Bilgi iletişim teknolojilerindeki (BİT) gelişme ekonomik olarak daha az maliyetli olduğu düşünülen uzaktan çalışmayı kolaylaştırmıştır. Ancak, BİT ve onların işlem süreçleriyle ilgili yaşanılan hızlı değişimler, çalışma ortamının özel alana taşmış olması ve benzeri sorunlar çalışanların BİT kaynaklı stres yaşamalarının yolunu açmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı teknostres ile uzaktan çalışma arasındaki ilişkiyi analiz etmek ve teknostresin alt boyutlarının uzaktan çalışmanın alt boyutlarına olan etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak teknokentlerdeki yazılım firmalarında uzaktan çalışma tecrübesi olan 162 BİT çalışanlarına internet üzerinden (Google Forms ile e-posta gönderilerek) anket yapılmıştır. Veriler korelasyon ve regresyon testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre yazılım firmaları çalışanlarının teknostres düzeyi düşük seviyededir. Tekno-aşırı yük ve istila uzaktan çalışanların etkililik/verimlilik algısını ve iş-yaşam etkileşimini pozitif yönde yordamaktadır. Tekno-güvensizlik uzaktan çalışanların etkililik/verimlilik algısını negatif yönde, tekno-belirsizlik ise pozitif yönde yordamaktadır.

The relationship between technostress and remote work: The case of software industry employees

Abstract

Developments in information and communication technologies (ICT) have facilitated remote working, which is considered economically less costly. However, rapid changes in ICT and their operational processes, the transfer of the work environment into the private sphere, and similar issues have led employees to experience stress originating from ICT. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between technostress and remote work and to examine the effects of the subdimensions of technostress on the subdimensions of remote work. Using a quantitative research method, an online survey (Google Forms) was administered to 162 ICT employees working in software firms located in technoparks, all of whom had experience with remote working. The data were analyzed using correlation and regression analyses. According to the findings, the level of technostress among employees of software firms is low. Techno-overload and invasion positively predict remote workers’ perceptions of effectiveness/productivity and work–life interaction. Techno-insecurity negatively affects perceptions of effectiveness/efficiency, while techno-uncertainty positively affects perceptions of effectiveness/efficiency.
