Abstract
Elazığ is a city located in the Eastern Anatolia Region, which has hosted multiple cultures, beliefs and political views from past to present. Unlike the political tendencies that generally dominates in the geographical area found the general political trends in Turkey has a political structure in the same plane usually has a strategic location because it is a city where nationalist and conservative views of the judges. The reason for this is that Elazığ has never made concessions to the parties supporting terrorist organizations or their actions and regards the indivisible integrity of the state as sacred under all circumstances. Understanding the political tendency of Elazığ in terms of its structure and evaluating the factors that cause voters' choices are important for Turkish politics in general and Elazığ in particular. In this study of Elazığ, Turkey's political structure in the period between 2020 and 1980 was investigated in the importance of politics in general. With the comparative handling of the election results, it has been revealed more clearly whether there is any similarity in the results of the general and local elections in Elazığ. Document reviews were made from qualitative research techniques and content analysis was made based on the results of 11 general elections and 8 local elections since 1980, and information was given about the political structure of Elazığ in the process discussed. As a result of these data, it has been determined that factors such as the environment, party leader, candidate factor, which are among the factors that cause voters' preferences in certain periods, are important and that Elazığ generally dominates the "right" political tradition despite the minimal differences that occur in certain periods.
