Journal of Islamic Studies
- Rumeli Journal of Islamic Studies published under the leadership of Trakya University Faculty of Theology with the cooperation of the Faculties of Theology of Kırklareli University, Namık Kemal University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, all of which are the members of Trakya Universities Association (TUB).
- It is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the field of Islamic Studies.
- It is published twice a year in April and October (Spring-Autumn).
- Rumeli Journal of Islamic Studies publishes articles in Turkish, Arabic, English and in Balkan languages. A long Turkish summary is required from authors of the articles will be published in foreign languages.
- The journal consists of scholarly articles, research notes, reports and translations as well as book and symposium reviews.
- The submissions are published subsequent to being reviewed by the peer reviewers, the editorial and the publication boards.
- The authors who published their articles are deemed to have accepted that the copyright belongs to Rumeli Journal of Islamic Studies.
- The authors are scientifically, linguistically and legally responsible for their works.
- The articles cannot be published or copied without showing their source.
- Authors can follow the publication of their submitted manuscripts

name, surname, information about his-her instition, phone number ande-mail adress.
- Contributors will download PDF format copy from our web site or dergipark web adress after published.
- The manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with Instructions for authors.
- All expenses of the journal are covered by the publisher. Processing and publication are free of charge with the journal. There is no article processing charges or submission fees for any submitted or accepted articles.
-Ethics committee decision is required for studies that require data collection from persons using scales, questionnaires, interviews and other data collection tools.
The author must have received approval from the Ethics Committee of the university which is belong to.
On the first page of the article, the name, date and number of the board and the approval of the committee must be stated.
Data collection start and expiry dates should be written in the method part of the article.
The certificate of approval should be appended.

PUBLISHING PRINCIPLES
- Articles submitted for the consideration of publication in Rumeli Journal of Islam Studies must be scientific and original and written according to the commonly accepted academic standards. They should also contribute to the area concerned. Articles published elsewhere in any form, partial or whole, will receive no consideration at all. If a paper is submitted to a conference but not published, the conference name, place and date has to be stated as a footnote.
- Rumeli Journal of Islam Studies uses double-blind review fulfilled by at least three reviewers. Referee names are kept strictly confidential. Referee identities may only be disclosed to journal Editorial Board members, who are also instructed to maintain confidentiality. The referees send their reports to the editorial board via the Article Evaluation Form.
- Upon their decision, the article will either be published in the journal or sent to the author for modification/correction or rejected.
- The article can only be published if the two referees agree in their decision on its publication.
- If the two referees disapprove the article, it cannot be published.
- If one referee approves and the other disapproves, the editorial board may send it to a third referee for the final decision.
- If the referee(s) requested corrections before publication, the article is sent to the author for correction, the corrected manuscript is published upon the decision of editorial board.
- If the referee wants to see the corrected article again, it is sent back to him.
- All articles are checked by means of a program in order to confirm they are not published before and avoid plagiarism.
- The editorial board gives the final decision weather a article to be published or not.
- Changing the name of an author (omission, addition, or order) in papers submitted to the Journal requires the written permission of all declared authors.
- This journal checks for plagiarism: Submitted manuscripts that pass preliminary control are scanned for plagiarism using iThenticate software. If plagiarism/self-plagiarism will be found authors will be informed. Editors may resubmit the manuscript for similarity check at any peer-review or production stage if required. High similarity scores may lead to rejection of a manuscript before and even after acceptance. The percentage of similarity score taken from each article, the overall similarity score is generally expected to be less than 20%.
- The journal adheres to national and international standards in research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law (a), the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (b), and the Regulation on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics in Higher Education Institutions (c). It has also committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and pays regard to Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (d) published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

WRITING PRINCIPLES
- Manuscripts must be submitted to the editor via e-mail (translations with their original texts, pictures, drawings and tables) containing the text in Microsoft Word (2007-2016).
- The article (including appendix of pictures, drawings, maps etc.) should not be longer than thirty (30) pages (Times New Roman 12, interspaces 1,5, margins 2,5).
- Turkish abstracts for English and non-Turkish articles, English abstracts for Turkish articles, should be submitted English in 150 words. Turkish and English keywords 7 (seven pieces) also should be submitted.
- Footnotes, should Times New Roman 10, interspaces 1, justified and spelled.
- The title of the articles should be given in Turkish and English. Subtitles shouldn’t be numbered automatically; it should be typed manually.
- The subjects covered in the manuscripts submitted to the Journal for publication must be in accordance with the aim and scope of the Journal.
- All articles should have an abstract composed of 150 words maximum and English translation of the abstract should be submitted for the Turkish articles. Turkish and English abstracts should be submitted for foreign language articles.
- There should be Keywords consisting of five both in Turkish and English.
- Original title of a translated article and its bibliographic information should be stated with a footnote attached to the main title. In order the translated article to be published in the Rumeli Journal of Islamic Studies, the translator has to submit the document showing the permission received from the author or the publisher.
- Editor has got the right to do minor changes in terms of spelling etc. Spelling book of the Turkish Language Council should be the main reference for spelling and punctuation unless there are special situations of the article.
- Author should be consistent in using diacritical letters and words with transcripts.
- If the dates of death are to be included, they should be as follows: (d. 425/1033)
- Each article should include a “bibliography” at the end.
- The articles which are written with non latin letters are required to have an additional bibliography written with latin letters and arranged accordingly.
- For the translated articles, it is asked for permission from the author and / or the of the journal, in which the original articles is published.
- Only those manuscripts approved by every individual author and that were not published before in or sent to another journal, are accepted for evaluation. Besides same author’s a new article cannot be published in the issue consecutive the published issue.

FOOTNOTE WRITING PRINCIPLES
- ISNAD should be used as the reference system in the articles. http://www.isnadsistemi.org/
- Manuscripts that do not use the ISNAD Citation Style (www.isnadsitemi.org) be turned back without review.
- There shouldn’t be abbreviations such as idem, ibid etc.
- References to the same footnote should be separated with commas, there should be a space after the commas. There should be asemi-colon between the references.
- The bibliography should be written at the end of the text, listed in the order of the surnames of authors.
- Arabic names of the authors in the bibliography should not be too long and the prefix “al” before the names of the authors should not be written.
- If there are more than one authors, all of them should be included without abbreviation.
- If there are more than one works of an author, they should be ordered according to the alphabetic book.
