Mülteci öğrencilere yabancı dil öğretiminde karşılaşılan sorunlar

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Türkiye'deki devlet liselerinde mülteci öğrencilerin yabancı dil öğrenirken karşılaştıkları temel zorlukları, öğretmenlerin mülteci öğrencilere yabancı dil öğretirken karşılaştıkları zorlukları ve bu zorlukların mülteci öğrencilerin akademik performansları ve yabancı dil öğrenme süreçleri üzerindeki etkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma Türkiye'de önemli sayıda mülteci öğrenciye hizmet veren devlet liselerinde yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın katılımcıları 24 İngilizce öğretmeni ve 72 mülteci öğrencidir. Nitel bir araştırma tasarımı benimsenmiştir. Veriler, İngilizce öğretmenleri ve mülteci öğrenciler için açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan anketler yolu ile toplanmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizi sonunda sorunlar öğretmenler ve öğrenciler bakımından olmak üzere iki ana alanda ele alınmıştır. Karşılaşılan güçlüklerden en belirgin olanlarının dil engeli, kültürel farklılıklar, iletişim ve uyum sorunları olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin ve okulların, dil programları tasarlarken bu zorlukları dikkate almaları ve mülteci öğrencilerin okul sistemine başarılı bir şekilde entegre olmalarını sağlamak ve hem yabancı dil öğrenin süreçlerini hem de genel akademik başarı durumlarını geliştirmek için onlara destek sağlamaları gibi eğitimciler ve eğitim planlayıcıları için öneriler getirilmiştir.
