Manuscripts submitted to the Abant Journal of Health Sciences and Technologies (SABITED) are published in Turkish or English. Turkish manuscripts should be clear and written in plain Turkish, preserving the integrity of the Turkish language and complying with the rules of the Turkish Language Association. The use of foreign terms should be avoided as much as possible. Commonly used foreign terms in Turkish should be provided in parentheses at their first occurrence. For terms that are not commonly used in Turkish, their foreign language equivalents should be given in parentheses at first use. Generic (active substance) names of drugs should be used instead of trade names and written as pronounced in Turkish. English manuscripts should be clear and free of language errors.
When submitting a manuscript to SABITED, the following templates must be used:
Numbers from one to ten should be written in words, while numbers 10 and above should be written as numerals. However, numbers at the beginning of a sentence should always be written in words. Spelling rules must be followed throughout the manuscript.
In the Turkish abstract, results, main text, and tables, commas (,) should be used to separate numbers.
Manuscripts submitted for publication should be prepared in Microsoft Word format, on A4 paper size, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides, 1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman font, 12-point size, and justified alignment.
The corresponding author must submit the Ethics Committee Approval Document along with research articles, and the Ethics Statement Form and Copyright Transfer Form along with review and other types of manuscripts via the system.
Each section of the manuscript should start on a new page and be arranged as follows: title page, abstracts and keywords, main text, references, tables, and figures/graphs. Except for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the main text should not exceed 4000 words, and the total number of tables and figures should not exceed five. The number of references should preferably not exceed 50. Other types of manuscripts should be between 1000–2000 words.
Title Page
The title page should be prepared and uploaded as a separate document. Information included on the title page must not appear in other sections of the manuscript. Additional relevant information (e.g., thesis, project support, conference presentation) should be indicated under the heading “other statements” on the title page.
Turkish Abstract
The purpose, study type, findings, and discussion should be clearly and briefly stated without using subheadings. Abstracts should be between 50 and 300 words.
English Abstract
The English abstract should be identical to the Turkish abstract and should not exceed 300 words. If the full manuscript is submitted in English, a Turkish abstract must also be included.
Keywords
Keywords should be placed below both Turkish and English abstracts. They must be compatible with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), listed alphabetically, separated by commas, and limited to a maximum of five.
To ensure standard terminology and facilitate indexing and accessibility, keywords should be selected carefully. Türkiye Bilim Terimleri provides Turkish equivalents of MeSH terms, ensuring both standardization and compatibility.
Main Text
Original research articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses should include the following sections:
Narrative reviews should include Introduction and Conclusion/Recommendations, while other headings may be structured by the authors. Case reports should include Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion/Recommendations.
Introduction
This section presents the research problem, summarizes previous studies, and explains the current relevance and purpose of the study. Authors should first present what is known through a comprehensive literature review, then identify the gap in the literature and justify the need for the study. Finally, the aim of the study, research questions (for descriptive studies), or hypotheses (for experimental studies) should be stated.
Materials and Methods
This section should describe the study design, setting, time, population and sample, inclusion/exclusion criteria, data collection tools, data collection process, ethical considerations, and data analysis in detail. Subheadings should not be written in bold.
Results
This section presents the collected data and analysis results. Key findings should be presented in tables or figures. Data should not be duplicated in both text and tables/figures; only key points should be highlighted. Commas (,) should be used between numerical values.
Discussion
The discussion should interpret findings and emphasize results. It should begin with a statement of the main findings. Similarities and differences with existing literature should be explained. The novel and important aspects of the study should be highlighted. Implications for theory and practice should be discussed, along with suggestions for future research. The strengths and limitations of the study should be clearly stated.
Conclusion and Recommendations
Conclusions should be based on study findings and contributions to literature, practice, or society should be stated. Recommendations should be evidence-based. Authors should avoid making general statements not supported by their data.
References
References should be numbered in the text in parentheses in the order of appearance, e.g., (1), (1,2), (3–6). All references must be cited in the text.
References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in numerical order. If there are six or fewer authors, all should be listed; if more than six, the first three authors should be listed followed by “et al.”

Tables, Figures, and Graphs
Tables, figures, and graphs should be numbered with Arabic numerals according to their order of appearance. Each should have a brief title in sentence format. All must be cited in the text.
Figures should be professionally prepared or submitted in high-resolution digital formats (e.g., JPEG, GIF). Previously published figures require permission from the copyright holder.
Abbreviations and Symbols
Abbreviations should be standard and used sparingly. All abbreviations must be defined at first use. Abbreviations should be avoided in titles. Units should conform to the International System of Units (SI) and be expressed in metric terms.
