Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine press frequency and the presentation style of mobbing in some of the daily newspapers in the media. The study also aims to determine the kinds of mobbing and evaluate reasons and consequences of mobbing as well as its reflections on the contemporary society. In line with this aim news about mobbing printed in Hürriyet, Zaman, Cumhuriyet and Radikal newspapers between years of 2008-2010 were scanned. The newspapers were selected on the basis of “criterion sampling” method as well as their sell-out statistics and being in different media-groups. Obtained data was analyzed through “document analysis” and “content analysis” techniques. Findings of the study reveals that when Leymann’s typology is taken into account, most repeated news about mobbing in newspapers was found as “ attacking one’s image”. In addition the use of language in news about mobbing differs from each other in which non-commentary but informative language is mostly preferred in the news about mobbing. It was also found that the number of news about people exposed to mobbing are higher than the news about people do mobbing on others. At the end of the study some recommendations were made in order to put a shed light on future studies about mobbing.

Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Mobbing olgusu ile ilgili haberlerin medyada yer alan bazı
gazetelerde ne sıklıkta ve nasıl yansıtıldığını incelemek, Mobbing olgusunun türlerini
belirlemek, sebep ve sonuçlarını, toplum üzerindeki yansımalarını değerlendirmektir. Bu
doğrultuda, 2008- 2010 yılları arasında Hürriyet, Zaman, Cumhuriyet ve Radikal
gazetelerinde yer alan Mobbing olgusuna yönelik haberler taranmıştır. Bu gazeteler “ölçüt
örneklem” yöntemine göre, Türkiye’deki satış rakamları ve farklı medya gruplarına ait
olma kriterleri göz önünde bulundurularak amaçlı olarak seçilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin
analizinde, “doküman incelemesi” tekniği ve “içerik analizi” yöntemi kullanılmıştır.
Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, Leymann’ın tipolojisi dikkate alındığında, gazete
haberlerine en çok yansıyan Mobbing türünün “itibara saldırı” olduğu belirlenmiştir.
Ayrıca Mobbing olgusuna yönelik haberlerde kullanılan dilin farklı özellikler gösterdiği,
gazetelerde yer alan haberlerde en çok yorumsuz ve bilgilendirici özellikte bir dilin tercih
edildiği tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak Mobbinge maruz kalanlara yönelik haberlerin,
Mobbingi uygulayanlara göre daha çok olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Sonuç bölümünde
Mobbingle ilgili gelecekte yapılacak çalışmalara ışık tutması bakımından çeşitli önerilerde
bulunulmuştur.
