Abstract
The concepts of sustainability and sustainable development are among the most discussed topics of the
last few decades in our world where environmental degradation is increasing.
The concept of sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the textile and apparel industry, as
it is one of the largest industries in the world in terms of workforce and production and the resources of
the planet we live in are alarming. At the same time, the concept of sustainability stands out in terms of
improving the environmental impacts caused by the rapid increase in consumption rates in the textile and
apparel sector.
The production of ecological textile products that do not harm the environment and human health is very
important. In this context, in the process of sustainability, starting from the fiber, which is the first form of
the fabric, and continuing to the final stage, the clothing, fashion designers have great tasks. It is also an
important issue that designs are produced from sustainable materials and that the products produced are
products that do not harm the environment, are timeless and can be recycled later.
Today, the concept of sustainability is discussed in every platform. At the core of this issue is the damage
to the environment / ecology and the concept of sustainability as a solution to this damage. Therefore,
sustainability issue in this study; Designers and brands, who make designs with sustainable fabrics that
are handled over sustainable fabrics, have been examined and the concept of sustainable fashion has been
emphasized.
