Abstract

Güncel sanatta sıklıkla kullanılan seramiklerin temaları ya da içerikleri, üretimde kullanılan tüm teknik tercihler ile bağlantılıdır. Seramik teknolojisinin henüz bulunmadığı tarihlerde alternatif pişirim teknikleri; imkânlara göre, birer zorunluluk sonucu bulunmaktayken, güncel üretimlerde bu pişirimlerin geliştirme ve uygulama nedenleri incelendiğinde; öncelikle çevre sağlığı, estetik değerler ve metinsel katkının önem kazandığı görülmektedir. Seramik gibi emek üzerine kimliği inşa edilen ve bu yargının kırılmasının uzun zaman aldığı bir alanda, fiziksel emeğin düşünsel bir noktaya dönüştürülmesi önemli bulunmaktadır. Dış koşulların, örneğin bir rüzgârın dahi çalışma üzerinde farklı bir etki bırakabilme olasılığı, insanın doğa ile bağlantıda bulunduğu noktada, sanat çalışmasının biriciklik kazanması bakımından etkili bir açı olarak değerlendirilebilmektedir. Kullanılan veriler, bireysel deneyimler ve doğa bağlamında okunabilen, alternatif pişirim teknikleri ile üretilen çalışmalardan seçilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, alternatif pişirim tekniklerinde, tam kontrolün sağlanamadığı ancak tüm olasılıkların estetik ve felsefi kazanımlar ile şekillendiği düşüncesi vurgulanmakta ve seramik çalışmalara doğal bir fiziksel katkı ile düşünsel zemin hazırladığı düşünülmektedir.

A CONTEMPORARY INTERPRETATION OF A TECHNICAL POSSIBILITY: CERAMIC ALTERNATIVE FIRING TECHNIQUES

Abstract

The themes or contents of ceramics frequently used in contemporary art are linked to all technical preferences used in production. In times when ceramic technology did not yet exist, alternative firing techniques were discovered as a necessity, depending on the possibilities available. However, when the reasons for the development and application of these firing techniques in contemporary production are examined, it is seen that environmental health, aesthetic values, and textual contributions have gained importance. In a field like ceramics, where identity is built on labor and where breaking this judgment takes a long time, the transformation of physical labor into a conceptual point is important. The possibility that external conditions, such as even a breeze, can have a different effect on the work can be evaluated as an effective angle in terms of the uniqueness of the artwork at the point where humans are connected to nature. The data used has been selected from studies that can be interpreted in the context of individual experiences and nature, and produced using alternative cooking techniques. As a result, it is emphasized that in alternative firing techniques, although complete control cannot be achieved, all possibilities are shaped by aesthetic and philosophical gains, and it is believed that this provides a natural physical contribution and intellectual foundation for ceramic works.
