SURVEİLLANCE SOCİETY AND THE CHİNESE SOCİAL CREDİT SYSTEM: THE NEW FACE OF SOCİAL CONTROL

Abstract

This study thoroughly examines the rise of the social credit system and surveillance society as modern mechanisms of social control and their impacts on individual freedoms, privacy rights, and social interactions. The social credit system is defined as a management tool that monitors, evaluates, and scores individuals' behaviors based on their adherence to social norms and laws, whereas the surveillance society represents a condition in which every move and interaction of individuals is continuously monitored through technological tools. The study explores how the social credit system and surveillance practices have evolved with technological advancements and their profound effects on society. Utilizing literature review and descriptive methods, this work seeks to illuminate the social, ethical, and political dimensions of these systems. It focuses on the capacity of the social credit system and surveillance society to shape individuals' behaviors and redefine societal norms and values. In conclusion, the ethical, legal, and social issues related to the implementation of these systems are discussed, highlighting the complex relationship between these forms of social control mechanisms and democratic values, human rights, and freedoms.

GÖZETİM TOPLUMU ve ÇİN SOSYAL KREDİ SİSTEMİ: TOPLUMSAL KONTROLÜN YENİ YÜZÜ

Öz

Bu çalışma, sosyal kredi sistemi ve gözetim toplumunun modern toplumsal kontrol mekanizmaları olarak yükselişini ve bunların bireysel özgürlükler, gizlilik hakları ve toplumsal etkileşimler üzerindeki etkileri incelemektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal kredi sistemi ve gözetim toplumunun toplumsal kontrol mekanizmaları olarak nasıl işlediğini ve bu sistemlerin bireysel özgürlükler, gizlilik hakları ve toplumsal etkileşimler üzerindeki etkilerini derinlemesine incelemektir. Sosyal kredi sistemi, bireylerin davranışlarını toplumsal normlara ve yasalara uygunluk açısından izleyen, değerlendiren ve puanlayan bir yönetim aracı olarak tanımlanırken, gözetim toplumu, bireylerin her hareketinin ve etkileşiminin teknolojik araçlarla sürekli izlenmesi durumunu ifade etmektedir. Çalışma, sosyal kredi sisteminin ve gözetim uygulamalarının, teknolojik ilerlemelerle nasıl evrildiğini ve toplum üzerinde derin etkiler yarattığını ele almaktadır. Literatür taraması kullanılarak, bu sistemlerin toplumsal, etik ve politik boyutları aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma, sosyal kredi sisteminin ve gözetim toplumunun, bireylerin davranışlarını şekillendirme kapasitesine ve toplumsal norm ve değerleri yeniden tanımlama potansiyeline odaklanmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, bu sistemlerin uygulanmasıyla ilgili etik, yasal ve sosyal sorunlar tartışılmakta ve bu tür toplumsal kontrol mekanizmalarının demokratik değerler, insan hakları ve özgürlüklerle olan karmaşık ilişkisi vurgulanmaktadır.
