Dünyanın birçok ülkesinde, enerji ve elektrik üretimi talebi ile ekonomik faaliyetlerin birbiriyle ilişkili olduğu bilinmektedir. Ekonomik gelişmeler ve nüfustaki artışlar, elektrik üretimine olan talebi daha da arttırmaktadır. Elektrik enerjisi günlük yaşantıda çok yoğun bir şekilde kullanılmakta ve ekonomik faaliyetlerle de önemli derece ilişki içermektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2010-2018 dönemi için 36 OECD ülkesinin elektrik üretiminin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkilerinin panel veri regresyon modeli ile analiz etmektir. Hausman testi analizinden elde edilen bulgular, panel veri analizinde kullanılan modellerden sabit etkiler modelinin kabul edilmesi gerektiğini göstermektedir. Panel veri analiz sonuçlarına göre, bu çalışmada elde edilen sabit etkiler modelinde farklı varyans, otokorelasyon ve birimler arası korelasyon olduğu sonuçları elde edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara bakıldığında, elektrik üretimi değişkeninin ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif bir ilişkisinin olduğu görülmektedir. Söz konusu pozitif ilişkinin varlığı, elektrik üretiminde ve ekonomik büyümede sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanmasının gerekliliğini ve önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu bağlamda, çalışmada, toplumsal refah üzerinde çok yönlü etkiler oluşturan elektrik üretimine yönelik, düzenleyici ve yönlendirici nitelikteki enerji ve ekonomi politikalarının geliştirilmesi önerilmektedir.
