COVID-19 Pandemisi Sürecinde Gebelik ve Doğum Yönetimi

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 99 - 104, 30.08.2020

Abstract

Pregnancy and Birth Management in COVID-19 Pandemic Process

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 99 - 104, 30.08.2020

Abstract

The new coronavirus epidemic emerges as a disease that is rapidly spreading all over the world and in Turkey. It can cause serious respiratory and cardiovascular insufficiency, and may even result in death. The rate of infection due to physiological changes is higher in pregnant population. Infections occurring during pregnancy bring along complications such as abortion, preterm labor, intrauterine death. For this reason, it is very important that pregnant women are protected from COVID-19 infection as well as all kinds of infections. In addition to social protection rules during pregnancy, practices such as limiting antenatal controls as much as possible or monitoring from home will be preventive. During the labor process, applications such as the use of full protective equipment, negative pressure rooms and close monitoring of the mother and fetus should be included for the protection of both pregnant and health professions from transmission. The aim of this review is to examine the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on pregnancy and labor management and the measures that can be taken in line with the literature.
