THE SEARCH FOR ABSTRACT GEOMETRIC FORM IN MODERNIST PAINTING

Öz

From the cave paintings that emerged with the lifestyles of primitive societies to the present day, the art of painting has undergone different transformations by undergoing formal changes with the different perspectives of artists. One of these changes is the cubism art movement, which has revolutionized the history of art by deviating from the representation-based understanding of art that has been ongoing since the beginning of the Renaissance. With the development of a series of conditions in favor of the emergence of cubism, there was a great break from the tradition of illusionary depiction in the art of painting. Paul Cézanne, one of the pioneers of modern art, managed to change the perspective by struggling with the internal difficulties of the art of the period. With Cézanne's different approach, the desire to construct the external world with abstract geometric forms and bring it to perfection became dominant in the art of painting. The external world was transformed into cylinders, cubes and cones, and the style and ideas that kept pace with the old order, in other words, the traditional expression of painting, were left aside. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who deeply questioned Cézanne's artistic approach and brought a new perspective to the art world and brought stylistic change, were also the pioneers of the Cubism Art Movement with this perspective. The study is limited to the context of these three painters and their works.

Cézanne’dan Picasso’ya Modern Resimde Kurgusal Doğa

Öz

İlkel toplumların yaşam tarzlarıyla ortaya çıkan mağara resimlerinden günümüze resim sanatı, sanatçıların farklı bakış açıları ile biçimsel değişimlere uğrayarak, farklı dönüşümler geçirmiştir. Bu değişimlerden biri de Rönesans'ın başlangıcından bu yana süregelen temsile dayalı sanat anlayışından saparak sanat tarihinde devrim yapan kübizm sanat akımıdır. Bir dizi koşulun kübizmin ortaya çıkması lehine gelişmesiyle resim sanatında yanılsamacı tasvir geleneğinden büyük bir kopuş yaşanmıştır. Modern sanatın öncülerinden olan Paul Cézanne dönemin sanatının içsel zorluklarıyla mücadele ederek bakış açısını değiştirmeyi başarır. Cézanne’ın farklı yaklaşımıyla resim sanatında dış dünyayı soyut geometrik formlarla inşa edip mükemmelliğe kavuşturma arzusu baskın olmuştur. Dış dünya silindir, küp ve konilere dönüştürülerek eski düzene ayak uyduran üslup ve fikirler yani resmin geleneksel ifadesi bir kenara bırakılır. Cézanne’ın sanatsal yaklaşımını derinlemesine sorgulayarak sanat dünyasına yeni bir bakış açısıyla üslupsal değişim getiren Pablo Picasso ve Georges Braque, bu bakış açısıyla Kübizm Sanat Akımının da öncüsü olmuştur. Çalışma bu üç ressam ve eserleri bağlamında sınırlandırılmıştır.
