SIRÇA KÖŞKÜNDE Mİ, LABORATUVARINDA MI, ARAMIZDA MI; NEREDE BU BİLİM İNSANLARI? ÜNİVERSİTE ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN BİLİM ve BİLİM İNSANI ALGISI BİR PAZARLAMA SORUNU MUDUR?

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi öğrencilerinin bilim ve bilim insanı algıları ile zihinlerindeki bilim insanı imajını belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öncelikle Araştırma Yöntemleri dersinde 71 öğrenciye yapılandırılmış mülakat yapılmış ve genel olarak bilim ve bilim insanına ilişkin algıları sorulmuş ve zihinlerindeki bilim insanını resmetmeleri istenmiştir. Mülakatlarla toplanan verilerden geliştirilen ölçekle bir devlet üniversitesinin İİBF öğrencilerinden kolayda örnekleme ile belirlenen 700 öğrenciye yüz yüze anket uygulanmış, değerlendirmeye uygun olan 687 anket SPSS 18 paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilere tanımlayıcı istatistikleri belirlemeye yönelik analizler, faktör analizi, bağımsız iki örneklem t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi uygulanmıştır. Sonuçlar İİBF öğrencilerinin zihinlerindeki bilim insanı imajının bir fen ya da doğa bilimci olduğunu, kendi çalışma alanlarını bilim olarak tanımlamadıklarını ve bilim ve bilim insanına ilişkin algılarının bölümleri itibariyle farklılaşmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Bulgular sosyal bilimcinin doğru tutundurulması ve yeniden konumlandırılması gerekliliğine işaret etmektedir.

IN HER/HIS GLASS KIOSK, IN HER/HIS LABORATORY, WITH US; WHERE ARE THESE SCIENTISTS? ARE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ SCIENCE AND SCIENTIST PERCEPTIONS A MARKETING PROBLEM?

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences students’ science and scientist perceptions and the image of scientist in their mind. Firstly a structured interview about science and scientist perception and the scientist image was prepared and applied to 71 students that attended Research Methods course. The data was used to improve a questionnaire. It was applied to 700 students that was selected by convenience sampling from a state university’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences students. The data collected from 687 appraisable questionnaires analysed by SPSS. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, independent samples t-test and One-Way-ANOVA were used. The results show that the image in students’ minds is a natural and applied scientist. They do not think their field as a science and this aspect do not differ with department. The results sign that social scientist must be promoted correctly and repositioned by social scientists.
