ENDÜSTRİ 4.0 VE LOJİSTİK SEKTÖRÜNE YANSIMALARININ ÖRNEK OLAY KAPSAMINDA DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Year 2018, Volume: 23 Issue: Endüstri 4.0 ve Örgütsel Değişim Özel Sayısı, 1675 - 1696, 30.12.2018

Abstract

EVALUATION OF INDUSTRY 4.0 AND ITS REFLECTIONS OF LOGISTICS SECTOR: A CASE STUDY

Year 2018, Volume: 23 Issue: Endüstri 4.0 ve Örgütsel Değişim Özel Sayısı, 1675 - 1696, 30.12.2018

Abstract

Industry 4.0, a concept that includes many modern automation systems, data exchange and production technologies, has gained great importance in the last few years. The concept of Industry 4.0, which focuses on building cyber physical systems to obtain intelligent production facilities that will enable manufacturing to be more digital, personalized, information-based and sustainable, based on the integration of information and communication technologies and industrial technology, will have an impact on the entire value chain. Today's companies; is struggling with great difficulties due to the increasing global competition, rapid change in customer requirements and the ever-evolving digitalization. Digital transformation in Industry 4.0; will create a single database that makes the supply chain smarter, more transparent and more efficient at every stage from the first point to the last point of the supply chain which starts with detection of customer needs till reach the end-user. In this context, logistics companies that play an active role in the whole supply chain are of great importance. Suppliers, warehouses, market racks, road vehicles, smart factories can be in communication with Industry 4.0, so that all steps of the supply chain can be managed through instant communication by participating in the process. With the help of the instant shared data in the logistics process, productivity and efficient use of capacity can be ensured and re-coordinated. It is thought that analyzing the process and technology compliance of firms within the supply chain for Industry 4.0 applications and digital transformation will contribute to the current literature. For this reason, the purpose of the study is to examine the industry 4.0 transformation of the logistics sector in depth within the industry 4.0 components. Thus, it was decided that it would be appropriate to conduct a case study with a logistics company that is creating the awareness by adding the logistics 4.0 insigne to its logo and which is the locomotive of the sector with its works within the scope of the industry 4.0. In the study, the project information of the logistics company within the scope of Industry 4.0, the main goals of the project, objectives, technologies used and consequently project outputs will be presented. The two of the Logistics company’s projects, which are about big data and internet of things, are The European Union Horizon 2020 projects. The project based on image processing technology is supported by TÜBİTAK Technology and Innovation Support Programs (TEYDEB). The study concluded with the findings of the study, recommendations for the sector and guidelines for future researches.
