Production Potential of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in Central Anatolia Region

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of acreage, production and yield of wheat and barley in Central Anatolia Region. Planting area, production and yield of wheat and barley similarities / dissimilarities of components examined for provinces by multiple regression and cluster analyses. Barley production regions were divided into two groups; 1) Afyon, Uşak, Aksaray, Kütahya, Yozgat and Kırşehir, and 2) Ankara, Konya ve Nevşehir provinces, and also wheat production regions were divided into three groups;1) Eskişehir, 2) Afyon, Kütahya, Konya Yozgat, Eskişehir, Ankara, Kırşehir and Nevşehir, and 3) Uşak and Aksaray provinces based on geographic differences. Three different yield levels were determined according to yield maps. Barley and wheat yield levels were between 2.0-2.8 ton/ha in the region.
