Psychometric Properties of Turkish Version the Rest Intolerance Scale Short Form

Abstract

This study aims to adapt the Rest Intolerance Scale Short Form into Turkish. The sample group of the study consists of 554 university students. The data collection tools used in the study, which was conducted using convenient sampling methods, include the Rest Intolerance Scale Short Form, the Leisure Quilt Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale. The reliability analysis results show that the Cronbach's Alpha values of the Rest Intolerance Scale Short Form, along with its sub-dimensions, are at an acceptable level. According to the DFA results obtained within the scope of validity analyses, it was determined that the scale has good fit indices. The fact that the convergent-divergent validity results are at the desired level adds originality to the study's methodology. Criterion validity results indicate positive significant relationships between the sub-dimensions of rest intolerance (negative feelings, social comparison, obsessive thinking, cognitive bias) and leisure quilt, and negative significant relationships with life satisfaction. Overall, the research results demonstrate that the Rest Intolerance Scale Short Form is a reliable and valid measurement tool in Turkish culture. Therefore, the results of this study can be said to enhance and enrich the literature related to rest intolerance, specifically in Turkey and generally worldwide.
