PERCEPTION OF RELIGION (ISLAMIC PERCEPTION) IN TALIP APAYDIN’S NOVELS
Abstract
Since the early ages of human, religion is one of the
factors that shapes societies. Literature which is one of the most important
component that conserves the human and the civilization has also been in contact with religion. Since
the first Muslim Turkish state Karakhanids, Turkish belief system predominantly
has been the Islam. When Turkish literature is examined, it is seen that
artists include Islam in their works of art one way or another, sometimes they
use art as an instrument and try to transform the sense of religion of the
society and sometimes they use religious elements as a material of their work
of art. Talip Apaydın, one of the socialist-realistic authors of our literature
was acquainted with the social life as he grew up in the village and used to
teach at a village institute. Especially in his novels, he tried to mirror the
society by reflecting the various values of them and sometimes he used his
novels as a tool to adopt his own thoughts to society. In this respect, it is
important to look at the religious perception in his novels to comprehend how
he evaluates the religious structure of the society as a village institute
writer. In addition to this, in Talip Apaydın example, the manner of
approaching of the artists and their relevance to the religion perception in
line with the policy of the Republican period novel will be presented.
Moreover, it is remarkable to see how Apaydın's novels which emphasize the
enlightened and epistemological approach consider religious values by creating
an ontological contrast.
