Bir dental kliniğe başvuran hastalarda özbildirim halitosis varlığının saptanması ve ilişkili faktörlerin değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu
çalışmanın amacı, bir dental kliniğe başvuran hastalarda özbildirim halitozis
oluşumunun prevalansını ve bu oluşumun demografik, medikal ve davranışsal
faktörlerle ilişkisini belirlemektir.

Gereç ve Yöntemler:
Çalışma,
yaşları 18 ile 94 (Ortalama 39.52 ± 15.91) arasında değişen toplam 299 bireyden
(166 kadın/ 133 erkek) oluşmaktadır. Özbildirim halitozis oluşumunun
-demografik veri, medikal hikâye, oral hijyen alışkanlıkları ve özbildirim oral
semptom bulgularıyla ilişkisi ki-kare testiyle değerlendirildi.

Bulgular: Katılımcıların
% 36.1’inde (n=108 birey) halitozis şikayeti mevcuttu. Özbildirim halitozis,
ağız yarası bulunanlarda, ağız kuruluğu bulunanlarda, dudak kuruluğu
bulunanlarda, boğaz kuruluğu bulunanlarda, göz kuruluğu bulunanlarda ve diş eti
kanaması problemi yaşayanlarda istatistiksel olarak daha yüksekti (p<0.05).
Yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, sigara veya alkol kullanımı, ilaç kullanımı,
sistemik hastalık, kemoterapi ya da radyoterapi, diş fırçalama sıklığı, diş ipi
kullanımı, dil temizliği, ağız gargarası kullanımı, dil fırçalama sıklığı,
hareketli ya da sabit protez kullanımı, burun ya da cilt kuruluğu ve kolay
yutkunabilme halitozis oluşumuna istatistiksel olarak etkili değildi
(p>0.05).

Sonuçlar: Özbildirim
halitozis prevalansı % 36.1 olarak bulundu. Ağız yarası, ağız kuruluğu, dudak
kuruluğu, boğaz kuruluğu bulunanlarda, göz kuruluğu ve diş eti kanaması gibi
koşulların varlığının, ağız kokusunun prevalansını etkileyebilir.
