The Effect of Stora Ge Dura Tion on The Yield and Quality of Sugar Beet, Har Vested and Storaged Different Tımes

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effects of different harvesting time on yield, yield component, weight losses and quality losses of sugar beet during 2003 growing season under Konya ecological conditions. The experiment of storage was arranged in “Completely Randomized Design” with factorial. Sugar beet were harvested four different dates (15th Sep-tember, lxd October, 15th October and lsd November) and storaged at third different dates (30, 60 and 90 dates). In this research; root yield, sugar content, weight losses and sugar losses were determined and statistically significant differences were found between root yield, sugar content, weight losses and sugar losses. The highest root yield at 15th Octo-ber (6.023 f1 ha) and the highest sugar content at lsd November (18.3 %) was obtained. In the mean of different harvesting time, the highest sugar (19.53 %) and weight losses (49.55 %) were obtained at 60 and 90 dates storaged, respectively. According to data, the most suitable storage condition for the prevention of sugar loss should be a period of 30 days starting from the October the 1st and for the prevention of weight loss a period of 30 days will be suitable when started at the November 1st.
