Effect of Different Irrigation Applications on Grass Growing and Irrigation Alternatives for Water Deficit in Konya Climatic Conditions

Abstract

In this study, some physical growing characteristics of grass constituted at green areas in Konya city were investigated for normally and deficit irrigation levels (depletion from the available water of 60%, 50%, 40%, 30% ) and the amount of water deficit was calculated by remaining the grass quality and performance standards. According to the results, the total cutting numbers for grass plant under normally and deficit irrigation conditions were determined for normally irrigation (depletion 60% of AW) as 11, deficit irrigations (depletion 50%, 40%, 30% of AW) as 7, 5 and 4, during the irrigation period of May-October, respectively. The total cutting weights for unit area within the parcels were also determined for normally irrigation as 2931, deficit irrigations as; 1648, 1059 and 857 gr/m2, respectively. Finally, the alternative irrigation programs were determined for grass plant in Konya climatic conditions.
