Year 2017, Volume: 31 Issue: 1, 86 - 98, 28.04.2017

Abstract

Horns are pointed growths on the head of various mammals. They consist of a core of living bone covered in a layer of horn that is made up of keratin and other proteins. Horns start to grow soon after birth and they continue to grow throughout the lifetime of the animal. In many species only males have horns and they can come in various shapes and sizes. Horn has been used since preistoric times for making useful and ornamental objects. Stone age artisans carved pictures on animal horns. For centuries horns were used as drinking cups, button, knife handle, musical instruments medicines, and gunpowder flask.

Geçmişten Günümüze Boynuzun Kullanım Alanları

Year 2017, Volume: 31 Issue: 1, 86 - 98, 28.04.2017
