Effects of Various Boron Doses and Their Application Methods on Leaf Boron Content, Yield and Quality Oof Sugar Beet Grown in Different Locations

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine effect of different boron doses (0, 0.15, 0.30, 0.45 and 0.60 kg B da-1) and their different applications such as to soil, to leaf and to soil + leaf on the boron content of leaves, tuber yield, sugar rate and sugar yield of sugar beet grown in Çumra, Altınekin and Seydişehir districts where sugar beet growing is very intensively. According to results, it was determined that the tuber yield of sugar beet increased in the rate of 5.7 % and 7.4 % with the applications of 0.30 and 0.45 kg B da-1 to soil and soil + leaf, sugar yield increased in the rate of 3.8 and 7.3 % with the appli-cations of 0.45 kg B da-1 to soil and soil + leaf as average of locations. Again according to means of locations, the highest sugar rates were got by the dose of 0.45 kg B da-1 to soil and 0.60 kg B da-1 to soil + leaf. It was not found a big increasing in the other application forms, it was got less results. As a result, it was determined that the dose of 0.30 kg B da-1 was adequate to get crop with the best quality when taken in-to consideration the other cultures will be used in rotation.
