Nutrition Status of Apple Orchards in Karaman Province in Terms of Micro Nutrition Elements

Abstract

In this study, the nutrition status in terms of micro nutrition elements in the apple orchards of Karaman province, where the apple production is very high, were investigated. With this purpose in 36 orchards, which are bigger than 2 ha, the soil samples were taken from 0-30, 30-60 and 60-90 cm soil depths of bottoms of 48 trees, the leaf and fruit specimens were col-lected from same trees and were analyzed in 2003 and 2004 years. The analysis results of soil and leaf samples comparing with the limit values, nutrients and nutrition problems of orchards investigated were determined. According to the results, it was determined that deficiencies of available Fe 53.7 %, 11.8 % Mn, 75 % Zn and 4.2 % B in the soil samples. In addition, deficiencies of 4.2 % total Fe, 18.7 % Cu, 2.1 % Mn, 91.7 % Zn, 10.4 % B and 25 % B excess in the leaf specimens were found. On the other hand, weight, diameter, dry matter, peel penetration resistance, pulp penetration resistance, total acidity and C vitamin content of the fruit samples were determined such as 86-209 g number-1, 57.7-80.8 mm, 278-602 g cm-2, 1700-4336 g cm-2, 9.7-19.5 %, 0.15-0.81 % and 1.2-12.7 mg 100 g-1, respectively. The significant positive and negative correlations were evaluated between the analysis results of soil samples and the leaf and fruit samples’ analysis re-sults.
