Yield, Fruit and Morphological Characteristics of Some Tomato Genotypes Grown in Turkey
Abstract
This study has been carried out in years 2005 and 2006 in order to compare the yields, some fruit and morphologi-cal characteristics of a variety of tomato genotypes grown in Turkey. As plant material, 33 tomato (Lycopersicon escu-lentum Mill.) genotypes were used, and the research was laid out in randomized block design with three replication and 10 plants in each replication. In experimented fruits; shape, transverse section, size of locule, pedicel area, shape of blossom end, shape of pistil scar, size (diameter and length), weight, yield, some morphological characteristics; such as, for plant stem; pubescence, internodes length and for leaf; type, pose, plant growth type were determinated. Our results show that; genotypes vary in terms of plant features. The highest yield was obtained from 69796, 69807 and 40443 genotypes. Fruits features obtained from this genotype were found as most desirable genotype, and genotypes, 69796, 69807 and 40443 were found to be advisable at development of new cultivars.
