Cold and Blight Resistant Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) and Its Potential for Winter Sowing
Abstract
Chickpea are one of the most important pulse crops worldwide. The crops is mainly sown late in the spring due to susceptibility to cold and ascochyta blight. However, development of cold and blight resistant cultivar made the winter and early spring sowing possible, dramatically increasing yield and yield stability. This review critisizes recent developments on cold and blight resistance ad their potential for chickpea production.
