Path Analysis and Relationships Between Some Climatic Parameters and Sugar Content of Sugar Beet
Abstract
This study has been made to determine the relationships between climatic parameters and sugar content of sugar beet produced in Konya plain. In 1993 and 1994 (July-October), the correlations between mountly mean sugar content of sugar beet and rainfall, air temperature, average hours of sunshine, the amount of daily calorie of solar radiation and wind velocity were statistically significant. In 1993 and 1994 for the above climatic parameters correlation cofficiants were as follow (for 1993, г= 0.658*, r=-0.926**, г= -0.936**, r=-0.697*, г= -0.704*; for 1994, r= 0.798**, r=-0.696*, r=0.786**, r=-0.680*, г=-0.597*, respectively). According to Path analysis results, the direct and indirect effects of air temperature, average hours of sunshine the amount of daily calorie of solar radiation and rainfall on sugar content of sugar beet were higher than the other climatic parameters.
